Last day of the summer holidays today and we had a beautiful afternoon swimming in the Dart and clambering over Dartmoor. A very lovely way to end the holidays ❤️
Join me for a peaceful evening walk on Dartmoor near Postbridge.
We'll spend around 2-3 hours exploring the moor at an unhurried pace, with plenty of time to take in the landscape, enjoy some quiet and simply step away from the busyness of everyday life.
We’ll explore the Bronze Age settlement of Grimspound and visit Bennett’s Cross. No pressure to walk fast or fill the silence - just good company, fresh air and space to slow down.
It'll be a maximum of 6 people to keep the group small.
Suitable for anyone who enjoys walking and wants to experience Dartmoor in a quiet, relaxed way.
Please note that sunset is at 7.39pm so you will need a torch for walking back as it gets dark.
The ground is uneven and rough in places so you will need to be comfortable with this. We will walk around 4-5km. If you’ve got any questions about the walk then please do contact me and I’ll be happy to chat with you about it.
I thought this friendly guy deserved a post of his own after he befriended me on a recent walk 💗
I love seeing the ponies running free and wild on Dartmoor - it's just magic to watch ✨️
When was the last time you spent several hours without feeling the need to talk?
Our silent walking days offer the chance to step away from the noise and busyness of everyday life and simply walk.
We'll spend much of the day walking quietly together across Dartmoor, taking time to notice the landscape, listen to the sounds around us and perhaps notice what's going on inside us too.
There's no expectation to be silent every minute — we'll talk when we need to, and there'll be time to chat during breaks.
But for much of the day, we'll let the silence do the talking.

Five lovely people joined me for an evening walk yesterday.
We visited Horn's Cross and some Bronze Age remains, including a cist, a stone row and a hut circle.
We spent some time sitting quietly in the hut circle overlooking Venford Reservoir, and made sure to include plenty of walking in silence too — giving ourselves the chance to notice our surroundings and have some space away from the usual noise of life.
Thank you to everyone who came along and made this Wild Calm Dartmoor walk so special 🤍
More walks coming soon.
Hello, I've got lots of new followers recently, so for those of you who are new here, I thought I’d share a little about me and the story behind Wild Calm Dartmoor.
Thanks for being here - I'm excited to share what comes next with you 😊
My partner and I had a rare 24 hours without our children, so of course we headed to Dartmoor 😍
We took dinner with us and watched the sunset from Leather Tor. The next morning we dipped in Warhorse Pool, walked to Drizzlecombe stone row - one of my favourites - and sat quietly on Higher Hartor Tor for a while.
Thanks to @walkhamptoninn for the fab accommodation and breakfast 😋

On our Wild Calm Wednesday evening walk yesterday we took in the view at Kestor Rock, climbed through through the Tolmen Stone at the North Teign River and watched the sunset with a cup of tea at Scorhill Stone Circle.
Pretty special for a Wednesday evening ✨️

My 6 year old was desperate to sleep out under the stars so we gave it a go at the weekend and she loved it!
It was magical watching the stars coming out with her, and waking at sunrise whilst she slept on ✨️
(We did have a tent with us as a backup just in case!).

A lovely few hours with @r.chicon visiting Grimspound and Bennett's Cross yesterday evening.
Big skies, sunshine, a bit of wind and even a little bit of rain at one point(!)
I'm delighted to be partnering with @therapy.with.james to offer our first Wilderness Therapeutic Journey on Dartmoor.
When was the last time you spent a whole day without rushing?
No notifications. No deadlines. No pressure to be productive.
Just open moorland, fresh air, gentle conversation, and time to think.
Together we've created a small-group day designed to offer space to slow down, reflect and reconnect. Combining my experience as a Mountain Leader and James' expertise as a BACP-registered person-centred therapist, we'll spend the day walking through some of Dartmoor's most beautiful landscapes, with time for conversation, quiet reflection and simply being outdoors.

A mini overnight adventure with a friend - camping by the River Tavy last night and a glorious swim this morning before hiking back via Ger Tor for some awesome views.
My first time along the Tavy Cleave and I'll definitely be back!

I just came across this quote and it really resonated with me.
Many of my favourite moments on Dartmoor have been the quiet ones ✨️

A stunning Wednesday evening with @hannah_n_horde_outdoors and Emily. We sat quietly in Scorhill stone circle for a while listening to the sounds of the moor and watching the setting sun put on a lightshow through the clouds, and it was just magic. Combined with a dip in the North Teign river it was a pretty perfect evening. Thankyou Dartmoor!

A magic moment from a walk last weekend ✨️

A magical few hours on Tuesday evening with @theresa.lober and @dj_ojo swimming in the Teign by Fingle Bridge and a short hike watching the sun go down over the top of the valley.
I still have to pinch myself that I can do something like this on a Tuesday evening!
So many pictures from a good-for-the-soul solo hike on Sunday 🌿☀️🪨
I love hiking alone - it creates space and quiet in my brain which feels very nourishing in a life which is usually filled with constant noise (thanks kids! 😜).
Solitude (which is the opposite of loneliness) is so beneficial - studies have shown that it can reduce stress, improve mood, and increase feelings of freedom.
I also made it to the Cranmere Pool letterbox which has been on my list for a while 😊
Definitely found my #wildcalmdartmoor on this hike.
A lovely few hours today with @hannah_n_horde_outdoors and the two toddlers, keeping cool in the River Taw just past Sticklepath.
There were a few deep pools and some small waterfalls to play in. Lots of fun!
